ABOUT THE EVENT
August 20-22, 2010 - Squamish, BC, Canada.

The Squamish Windsports Society (SWS) is very pleased to announce the 2010 West Coast Open Regatta and 2010 Canadian National Championships Regatta, held concurrently at the same event.
The SWS is in it’s second year of local Kiteboard series racing, and it has shown to be a great success. In an effort to bring a higher caliber of racing to the region, the West Coast Open was created, with the intention of becoming in the future a premiere stop for anyone serious about kiteboard racing in North America and otherwise. As such, this event is open entry to any competent kiteboarders, with the hope that word will spread about the excellent potential that this venue provides for hosting such events.
In addition, being the premiere kiteboarding location for all of Canada, it seems fitting to invite riders from across the country to not only compete in a larger event, but also for the chance to gain ranking for national titles as part of the Canadian National Championships.
2010 will be the first year of this event, so many riders will be unfamiliar with the spot; however, rest assured that smooth, predictable wind is the norm for our site. For more information, competitors or others can feel free to contact the race director at any time.
The Squamish Windsports Society has a mandate to promote and support all windsports activities in the area. The SWS is the hosting entity for this event, and is providing full, enthusiastic support.

With a variety of quality venues for many sports, Squamish, BC, Canada has become known as the Outdoor Recreation Capital of Canada. It is situated at midpoint between the two host cities of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games: Vancouver and Whistler, where the Howe Sound inlet meets the Coastal Mountain range. For kiteboarders, Squamish has become the regional hotspot, boasting calm waters and steady smooth thermal winds averaging from 18-25knts during the warmer months. It is all set to a scenic backdrop, and welcomed by a large and growing community of riders.
